Designs form a fundamental part of the intellectual property portfolio of many businesses. Particular expertise is required when filing designs from overseas in Australia and the FB Rice Designs team has expertise in the application of designs across a range of technologies.
We have worked with clients in the motor industry and consumer goods, as well as electrical appliances and with clients requiring very specific design expertise such as in containers and receptacles for consumer goods.
Our Team leader, partner Jeremy Dobbin is currently the convenor of the Design Committee of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA). Partner Chris Owens has for a number of years served as the leader of the Asian Patent Attorneys (APAA) Designs Committee, so the firm has a deep understanding of the many issues facing clients requiring assistance with registered designs.
