Chris O'Sullivan graduated from the University of London and worked in Intellectual Property in the UK for five years before migrating to Australia. He registered as a patent attorney in Australia in 1990 and joined FB Rice in 1995.
Chris specialises in patenting all aspects of electronics based inventions. He has a reputation for understanding difficult inventions and presenting them with clarity and precision.
His expertise also extends across the range of Information Technologies, including web-based business engineering, medical imaging and geometallurgy, as well as control systems for large scale manufacturing and energy generating plants. In recent times an increasing proportion of his work has been directed towards
‘greening’ the technology in these sectors.
Chris also has an enviable record in disputed matters, particularly patent oppositions where he has seen success in both attacking and defending patent applications. He is sought after for his ability to generate creative solutions for clients in difficulties. Thomson Lawbook Co. published Chris’s book “Practical Guide to Australian Patent Law” in 2003.
Chris heads up our Software & IT group, and is located in our Sydney office.
