David Lee is an Associate in our Sydney office and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Macquarie University, Sydney and a Masters in Industrial Property Law from the University of Technology, Sydney. He joined FB Rice in 2006, having worked for 10 years as a patent engineer in one of the largest private patent firms in Japan.
David has over 14 years experience in general patent prosecution covering a diverse range of technologies, including food science and related equipment and devices. He is currently involved in preparing and prosecuting patent and design applications, conducting patent oppositions and providing patentability advice. He also has experience in patent litigation in Japan and court appeals from the Japanese Patent Office.
David spent 15 years in Japan and, prior to working in intellectual property law, he worked for a major Japanese electronics company developing software for machine translation.
David is fluent in Japanese and regularly works with FB Rice Attorneys conducting business with Japanese firms, as well as providing valuable cultural insight into managing intellectual property issues in the Japanese system.
