Heidi is a Trade Marks Lawyer in our Melbourne office and is a qualified intellectual property lawyer with several years’ experience managing trade mark portfolios. She has worked in both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters, bringing a strategic and commercial approach to the Trade Marks team.
Heidi has managed extensive Australian and international trade mark portfolios for medium and large Australian-based global companies including manufacturers, distributors and retailers for a range of products and services. Her experience includes infringement and validity advice, the conduct of local and international trade mark prosecutions and providing legal advice on associated intellectual property matters such as licences, assignments and intellectual property contract terms for commercial agreements. Heidi has also worked to support transactional matters coordinating intellectual property due diligence and post-completion tasks such as recordal of IP assignments on IP registers.
Heidi’s contentious work experience includes trade mark oppositions and non-use actions in Australia and internationally. She has also acted in litigated matters including trade mark and copyright infringement, passing off, breach of contract and breach of Australian Consumer Law. This experience allows her to ensure the appropriate expert is selected when FB Rice partners with other firms on her clients’ litigation matters.
Prior to working as a lawyer, Heidi served for several State Government departments as a policy and project officer gaining valuable experience in understanding and developing policy around industry trends and in dealing with key government partners and agencies.
Heidi is a qualified Australian legal practitioner.
