Mark is the biotechnology group partner in the Sydney office of FB Rice, and joined the partnership in 2002.
 
Mark has considerable experience in preparing patent specifications, prosecuting patent applications before the intellectual property offices of Australia and New Zealand, and managing international patent portfolios. Mark’s expertise is in strategic planning, and the provision of advice in relation to due diligence, infringement, patentability, opposition and pre-litigation matters.
 
Mark has 13 years of academic and industrial research experience and was awarded the CSIRO Medal for his efforts in establishing Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation's (CSIRO) patent position in respect of avian interferon-gamma.
 
Prior to entering the attorney profession, Mark worked as a postdoctoral scientist for seven years, with the Plant Biotechnology Group of ICI (UK) and with CSIRO.
