Brett Lunn & Rachel Hooke contributing authors to recent publication 'Patent Claim Interpretation' 2010-2011 edition

Date: 18 January 2011
Author: FB Rice
FB Rice is delighted to once again contribute to the highly regarded publication ‘Patent Claim Interpretation’ edited by Edward D. Manzo. This annual publication addresses issues of patent protection scope in major countries of the world and this year expands the countries covered to include Columbia and Hong Kong.

The issue of how patent claims are to be interpreted - that is, how broad or narrow the patent is – is at the heart of virtually every patent dispute, and this publication goes a long way to clarifying the applicable laws in different countries. Leading lawyers in the jurisdictions covered have provided explanations of the applicable law in their respective countries.

Managing Partner of FB Rice Dr. Brett Lunn and Partner at FB Rice Rachel Hooke, have contributed to the chapter on the laws governing patent claim interpretation for Australia. “We are delighted to contribute to this publication, covering as it does the critical area of patent claim interpretation” said Dr. Lunn.  “It is a challenging project but clarity in this area is important to all practitioners, so we’re happy to work with the publishers to achieve that”.
