Tom Hamilton-Gilligan

Tom's technical foundation lies in his Bachelor of Science with a major in Computing and Software systems, and prior professional experience as a software engineer. While he has a special affinity in software and ICT, his broad foundational studies support his patent expertise spanning across mechanical, electrical, and medical device technologies. These foundational studies were part of his Bachelor of Science, and included physics, mathematics, and electrical engineering.

Tom has a strong interest in IP strategy and analysis and has supported clients ranging from start-ups to multinational companies on infringement analysis, patent searching and reviews, drafting, prosecution, and litigation support. Through his work, he has gained substantial experience dealing with Australian patent eligible subject matter issues, particularly in the context of computer-related inventions.

Tom continues to develop his skills in prosecution strategy, examination processes, and client advisory work with a strong focus on practical, commercially relevant IP outcomes.
