Date: 20 May 2015
Author: Jeremy Dobbin

In April 2015, Jeremy Dobbin, senior partner of FB Rice, was elected President of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia. The Institute is governed by a Council elected annually from Fellows of the Institute and all positions are voluntary.

Jeremy has been involved with IPTA for many years and has served on several Committees, including as convenor of the Designs Committee for a number of years. Originally qualified in the UK, Jeremy retains strong links with the profession in that country through annual attendance at the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) Congress.

Well known for his broad network of connections both in Australia and overseas, Jeremy is looking forward to the role of President of IPTA, and to representing the body both locally and overseas.

“It is enormously rewarding to work with IPTA and to feel that I am contributing to the development of the profession. It’s an opportunity to give something back to the community that I have so enjoyed throughout my career,” said Jeremy.

Jeremy assumed the role of President at the Annual General Meeting of the Council on 16 April, 2015.
