Redsbaby: Prams designed for the Australian market
As part of World Intellectual Property Day, FB Rice would like to take this opportunity to celebrate the achievements made by women in IP and in particular, highlight the achievements of one of our clients, Meagan Redelman, co-founder of Redsbaby.
Australian owned and operated, Redsbaby was founded in Sydney in 2013 to provide parents with a range of baby products that combine thoughtful design with stylish, practical and innovative features.
We spoke to Meagan to explore why innovation and creativity are vital to Redsbaby’s success.
In terms of innovation, how did your business idea come about?
The light bulb moment came about following a conversation at a local cafe with friends who were dissatisfied with their prams for a number of reasons. Their primary criticisms stemmed from the feeling their prams were designed for other markets which do not take into account Australia’s environmental nuances and our way of life. Upon thorough industry research and category analysis, we identified a gap in the market for thoughtfully designed prams that met the needs of Australian parents combined with a beautiful trend-driven aesthetic that appealed to a modern parent’s sense of style.
Critical to our innovation has, and continues to be, our channel approach. Pioneering an innovative, direct to consumer model combined with our iconic, unique demonstration days has enabled our beautiful, high-quality products to not only delight, but also be accessible to all families from a cost perspective. As our company has grown, so too has our reputation for quality, design and safety, resulting in our prams being the highest-rated in Australia as voted by real parents on ProductReview.com.au.
Taking a creative approach, can you give examples of aspects of creativity that has enabled your business to grow?
Key aspects of creativity and innovation that have driven our business growth include our ongoing investment in product design and development, together with our distinctive brand promise and positioning. We believe that both form and function should be equal partners in product design. We harmonise aesthetics and utilitarian features to create products that are as functional as they are beautiful. Nothing is incorporated without an end purpose in mind, which our customers value.
FB Rice is proud to be associated with Redsbaby and acknowledge Meagan’s inspiring contribution to driving innovation and creativity.
