FB Rice strengthens partnership group

We are very excited to announce the appointment of John Landells as a Partner of the firm.

John is a member of the chemistry team, based in our Sydney office. He has many years of experience in the patent attorney profession and has a practice specialised across a broad range of chemical based technologies including pharmaceuticals, veterinary therapeutics, electroactive materials, adhesives, polymers, and food and dairy technologies. He has considerable experience in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in these technology areas for Australia, New Zealand, United States, Europe, Japan, China, and other overseas countries.

John’s technology background originates from his PhD studies in the area of targeted organic synthesis of antibiotics and anticancer agents. This has led to particularly strong engagement with clients in that field, and he is known for clear and practical strategic advice.

Originally from New Zealand, John’s experience involves considerable opposition work before the Australian Patent Office and Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand, along with providing due diligence reports on patent portfolios, patent landscape assessments, validity opinions, infringement considerations and freedom-to-operate advice.
