Katerina holds a Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering (Honours) and a Bachelor of Science (Neuroscience) from the University of Sydney. Her university studies provided her with the fundamental principles of medical device design and development as well as analytical skills to assess performance based on theory and experiment. In her final year of university she completed an honours thesis aimed at investigating the effect of boron nitride nanoparticles on peripheral nerve regeneration as an alternative treatment option. This fostered a deep appreciation for the process involved in the development of medical technologies and the technical analysis required to assess their feasibility.
Prior to commencing at FB Rice, Katerina had experience working in medical device regulation at a regulatory consultancy based in Sydney. Here she assisted clients in the preparation of specific technical and regulatory documentation to meet industry standards and jurisdiction regulations to gain market access for a range of medical technologies broadly spanning orthopaedic, respiratory, cardiovascular, surgical tools and diagnostic devices and technologies. Katerina is passionate about innovation and the progression of technology through her science and engineering background.
Katerina is a registered Australian and New Zealand patent attorney.
