Yvette obtained her PhD from the Australian National University in the field of biomedical research and neuroscience where she focused on the role of inflammatory pathways in the progression of retinal degenerations. Yvette has also worked previously in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology during her Honours degree, understanding pathogenic features of preeclampsia.
Prior to joining FB Rice, Yvette worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Australian National University specialising in the development and testing of small molecule inhibitors and novel biologics (extracellular vesicles) to target inflammatory pathways associated with retinal and neurodegenerative diseases.
Through these roles, Yvette has developed an extensive technical background in molecular biology, RNA and protein sequencing, in vitro and in vivo models of disease including functional and behavioural testing, and in drug development and methods of therapeutic delivery.
Yvette has also worked as a co-founder of a biotech start-up, with experience in the commercialisation and development of novel therapeutics including venture development, preclinical-clinical translation, and IP strategy.
Yvette's breadth of experience across basic and translational research pathways allows her to assist clients in this role with the strategic protection of their novel scientific discoveries.
