Connie Merlino – Partner
Connie joined FB Rice in 2000 and is a partner of the firm in our Sydney ICT team. Specialising in patent specifications in a range of ICT technologies, Connie's experience covers areas such as software, telecommunications and data communications, security, databases and imaging. Connie has been recognised as an IP Star for patent prosecution in Managing Intellectual Property, 2019/20 and endorsed in the 2019 IAM Prosecution recommended list.  
Full Bio
Connie specialises in drafting patent specifications in a range of ICT technologies. Her experience covers areas such as software, telecommunications and data communications, security, databases and imaging. Connie is known for her ability to quickly comprehend high level mathematics and has extensive experience in application software, including business methods and internet applications. Particular examples include smart phone applications, formal verification of drivers for hardware devices, multi-spectral imaging, video processing and virtual networks.
Representing both small companies and start ups, as well as large international companies and universities, Connie's experience includes prosecution of patent applications in Australia and the major commercial markets including all of Asia.
Connie’s experience also includes patent oppositions before the Australian Patent Office and providing strategic advice in relation to patent portfolios, including infringement advice and licensing agreements.
Connie also works on the prosecution of a varied array of registered designs.
Connie is a registered Australian Patent and Trade Marks Attorney.
